The little black cocktail dress

The little black, summer dress, cocktail dress

“One is never over-dressed or underdressed with a Little Black Dress” Karl Lagerfeld.

And I couldn’t agree more!

I received this long cocktail black dress a little over a  month ago, but didn’t plan to take pictures of it until I saw how much you guys liked the black satin dress from my previous article.

I always suggest that you build your wardrobe in a smart and useful way. Get the essentials down first, these items doesn’t cost a ton of money and it won’t take you the whole morning to figure it out what do you want to wear. Maybe you have an office job where the dress code is bit more formal, or a retail job where a more casual style is preferred. There are always ways to combine the formal with casual and use them for different occasion. Take a look at the cigarette pants I had in my previous article, there are in fact quite formal but with a sweater instead of a white shirt and combined with a pair of sneakers they work perfectly as a fun weekend uniform, right? When I say, you should build your wardrobe smartly I mean that every woman should have the following in wardrobe: the classic white shirt, a pair of black trousers, a blazer, a pair of flat shoes and a pair of high heels, a LBD (or more), a nice coat preferable a trench coat, a pair of nice jeans and so on. After you completed these items, feel free to combine them with some of the trends that fit your personal style.

This time, I would like to point out the LBD. Like other dressses there are many types of LBDs but no matter what there is something special about them which is probably why they got so popular also. Perhaps it’s because of the fact that they are black and work with absolutely anything or maybe it’s the shape or that Coco Chanel made it ubiquitous. Interested in reading more about the history and the way women used to wear the little black dress many years ago? Check it here. I find the style in the article really classic, fun and inspiring.

Personally, I own few little black dresses but this longer one caught my eyes because of it’s shape and unique design. Unfortunately, it is not for sale as it was made by a Romanian designer that I’ve met, but in my build up your wardrobe category you’ll find links to some other types of black dresses that can be worn for any occasion.

The high heels though are new arrivals from here and I can honestly tell you that I’ve danced in them for a whole night and didn’t end up with swollen feets in the morning or blisters and I usually always get blisters when I wear a new pair of shoes. I am planning to wear them for the summer with a pair of jeans and a shirt or just a dress, any kind of dress will work great with them.
